Teach full-time for five complete and consecutive academic years
Must meet your state's requirements for a highly qualified teacher
Be a new borrower as of October 1, 1998, or have no outstanding balance on Direct or FFEL loans
Cannot have received benefits under this program or similar programs before
School must be listed in the Department of Education's Teacher Cancellation Low Income Directory
Must be a public or private non-profit elementary or secondary school
School must qualify as low-income for each year of your five-year service period
